Carter play a 20-minute live set at the HMV megastore in Oxford Street, which ends in chaos with people crowd-surfing and climbing up onto the record racks to dive off from A-Ha to Cher to Devo to Genesis. Piles of CD cases are knocked over and trashed and eventually somebody from HMV cuts the electricity and stops the gig. Everyone starts hissing and booing and Jon Beast is asked to go onstage to calm things down. He does so by announcing, 'FEEL FREE TO SHOPLIFT NOW!'

We were also asked to not talk about the war when we were interviewed on the radio; DJs had already been sacked for doing so. The whole country was stuck in an episode of 'Fawlty Towers'. Conversely, when we went to Germany and Holland, the radio's reaction there was the exact opposite. Because there was a war on, they were playing "Give Peace A Chance", and while we were Sellotaping the front cover of The Sun newspaper to our windows, the Germans were hanging out white flags and peace symbols.
